Elementary student drawing

We are hopeful this letter finds you and your family safe and well as we begin the new year.  We are looking forward to welcoming our students back to school.  All schools are scheduled to follow their standard arrival and dismissal times as we begin the second semester.

We know that many are concerned about the increasing numbers of COVID cases and ask for your help in keeping everyone safe and healthy. Our staff have been working diligently through the break to clean and prepare classrooms and facilities. Here are a few important reminders as we reenter school:

  • Mandatory mask requirements remain in effect for all students, staff and visitors in all SFPS buildings. Please ensure that your child has a properly fitting mask when arriving at school everyday.

  • High-quality masks, notably N95/KN95 masks, are more effective at preventing the spread of COVID. SFPS can provide these to all staff and will work with community partners so they are available, so please consider using high-quality masks to keep our community safe.

  • If you have been traveling, or are experiencing symptoms, please get a COVID test. Again, we all need to do our part to keep the community safe.

    • Students and staff can test at no charge at Aspen Community Magnet School

      • 450 La Madera St.

      • Monday - Friday

      • 8:30 am - 6:00 pm

SFPS recommends that every eligible member in our community get vaccinated and we will continue to update you on future vaccination schedules in our community.

Our staff continues to have high vaccination rates and we are hopeful that they have had limited exposure to Covid.  We continue to monitor Covid cases in our school community.  In the event we experience an escalation in staff who are quarantining that compromises our ability to safely run school, we will notify you immediately.

Thank you for your partnership as we continue to work our way through this ongoing health crisis.  We are hopeful that this latest winter surge will subside in the near future.  If we continue to work together, as we have since the onset of this pandemic, I am confident that we will be able to keep our entire school community safe in the new year.

On behalf of our entire staff, SFPS looks forward to ushering in a safe and productive 2022!
